LPWS Build Kit Lead Time & Availability

June 25, 2026  ·  By Carl Woodard  ·  Legion Precision Weapon Systems

Our kits aren't sitting on a shelf — they're hand-built in limited drops. Here's exactly how availability, ordering, and lead times work, so you know what to expect before you buy.

How LPWS Handles Availability

LPWS build kits are released in limited drops — not held as open, always-in-stock inventory. Each batch is a defined number of kits we can machine and fit to standard without cutting corners. When a drop sells through, that batch is closed until the next one opens.

We run it this way on purpose. A drop model lets every kit get the same hand-fitting and quality control that makes an LPWS kit worth building. It also means the smart move is to be ready before a drop opens — not to go looking after it sells out. The current drop schedule and batch size are posted here: [current drop cadence / next drop date].

How Ordering Works

Ordering is straightforward: when a drop is live, you buy your kit outright. We don't take deposits and we don't hold kits — a kit is yours when the order is paid in full at checkout, which locks in your build configuration (porting, options, and any add-ons) and puts it in the build queue.

StepWhat happens
1. Drop opensCustomers signed up for email notifications get an email 24 hours before the drop goes live
2. Order in fullPay in full at checkout to claim your kit and lock your configuration — no deposits, no holds
3. Build & fitYour kit is machined and pre-fitted to standard in queue order
4. Ship to FFLWhen your kit is finished, the serialized frame ships to your FFL
// Note

Because there are no deposits or holds, the only way to claim a kit is to order during a live drop — once a batch sells through, it's closed until the next one. Order and return terms are listed at checkout and on the product page: [order / return policy summary].

Estimated Lead Time

From order confirmation, the estimated lead time to ship is 60 days — covering machining, hand-fitting, and QC on your kit. A few things move it:

Porting level and add-ons affect shop time. A [ported / Extreme 6-port] build involves more machining than a standard configuration. Your order confirmation will reflect the estimate for your exact spec.

Kits are built in queue order within a drop. Ordering early in a drop generally means an earlier slot in the build queue. Current queue status: [current queue / backlog note].

The kit includes a serialized frame, so it ships to your FFL, not your door. Identify your receiving FFL before you order so there's no delay at shipping. Budget a transfer fee on their end [typical FFL transfer fee range].

Why Hand-Built Kits Take Time

The honest answer: the machine work and fitting can't be rushed. The value of a pre-fitted kit is that we've already done the hardest part — hood fitted, bottom lugs cut, island rib matched to the slide. That's precision lathe work and hand-fitting that has to be done right on every kit.

The drop model and a real lead time protect that standard — we'd rather quote an honest window than promise overnight stock we can't fit to standard. If you've read whether you can build a 2011 from a kit, you know the work involved; the lead time is the upstream half of it.

// Set Your Expectations

Plan your build timeline around the quoted lead time plus your FFL transfer, not around a kit shipping the day you order. Good builds start with realistic expectations — ours included.

Don't Miss The Next Drop

Kits move in limited drops, so the people who get them hear first. Two ways to make that you:

Join the email list for drop alerts straight to your inbox, and follow LPWS on Instagram — drops are announced to the community there first. Get on both and you won't be refreshing the shop page hoping to catch a batch after it's already gone.

The 5-inch Government Island Barrel Build Kit is available in current drops. A 4.25-inch Chiraq Commander version is in development and will be announced to the community first — another reason to be on the list before it lands.
