The Extreme 6-port is the most aggressive porting option we offer. It will dramatically reduce recoil and muzzle rise — but it comes with a tuning requirement that not every builder is ready for.
Because the ports are large, they bleed significant gas pressure on firing. This means your recoil spring weight and ammunition selection have to be matched correctly or the gun will not cycle reliably.
Too light a spring with underpowered ammunition and you will have feeding issues. Too heavy a spring with hot ammunition and you may short-stroke.
If you know how to tune a 2011 around a specific load and spring combination, the Extreme 6-port is a serious performance upgrade. If you are still learning the platform, the Performance 3-port gives you meaningful recoil reduction with more forgiving tuning requirements.
