Do not ship anything before contacting us. Reach out by phone or email to discuss the services you need. This lets us give you any specific instructions, confirm our current address, and prepare for your firearm's arrival.
Firearms that arrive without prior communication may be delayed while we identify the work required. A quick call or email before you ship keeps everything moving.
Use the Contact page or email legionprecision@gmail.com to initiate your service request before packaging anything.
Before touching any packaging materials, ensure your firearm is completely unloaded. This is non-negotiable.
Every shipment must include the following inside the package — not emailed separately, physically inside the box:
If the address on your driver's license does not match your current shipping address, contact us before shipping. We cannot ship your firearm back to an address that does not match your ID. This is a federal requirement, not a preference.
Federal law prohibits shipping firearms via USPS. Use FedEx or UPS only. At the counter, you will be required to declare the package contains a firearm — this is a legal requirement, not optional.
Attempting to ship a firearm via USPS is a federal offense. FedEx or UPS only, no exceptions.
Keep your tracking number from FedEx or UPS and monitor progress until confirmed delivered. Once we receive your firearm, we will contact you to confirm arrival and provide a service timeline.
If you have any concerns about your shipment in transit, contact the carrier directly using your tracking number before reaching out to us.
Our FFL shipping address must be confirmed directly with us before you send anything. Contact us first — we will provide the verified current address in your pre-shipment conversation.
Your firearm will be shipped back via FedEx or UPS with Adult Signature Required to the address on your driver's license — the same address you included with your shipment documentation. You will receive tracking information when it ships.
We do not ship to addresses that differ from the ID on file. If your address has changed since you shipped to us, contact us before your work is complete so we can work through the process correctly.
Yes — insure your firearm for its full replacement value. Carrier claims on uninsured or underinsured packages rarely recover full value. The cost of insurance is small compared to the risk of shipping an uninsured custom pistol worth thousands of dollars.
Both FedEx and UPS offer declared value coverage at the counter. Declare the actual replacement cost of the firearm, not a lower number to reduce the fee.
Only send what is specifically required for the service being performed. Do not include extra magazines, holsters, ammunition, or accessories unless we have specifically asked for them.
Unnecessary items add liability and complexity to your package. When in doubt, ask us during your pre-shipment contact what needs to come with the firearm.
Slides and barrels that are not serialized frames are generally not classified as firearms under federal law and can be shipped via standard carriers including USPS, FedEx, or UPS without the firearm declaration requirements.
However, you should still contact us first to confirm the best shipping method for your specific components. Include a written service request and your contact information inside the package regardless of carrier.
If you're shipping slides or barrels for our Perfect Zero Atlas 1911 DS machining services, the same packaging best practices apply — padded, discreet, no external markings. Contact us before shipping to get the current address and confirm your service order.
Yes. Firearm shipping laws vary significantly by state. Some states have additional requirements for transferring firearms through gunsmiths, including requiring the work be performed through a local FFL in your state rather than shipping out of state.
It is your responsibility to know your state's laws regarding sending a firearm to an out-of-state gunsmith before shipping. When in doubt, consult a local FFL or firearms attorney before sending anything.
This guide covers federal requirements. State and local laws may impose additional restrictions. Always comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. LPWS is not responsible for customer non-compliance with local law.
