In a standard 2011, the front sight is mounted on the slide. When the gun fires, the sight reciprocates back and forth — making it harder for your eyes to track and reacquire the target.

An Island Barrel features a top rib that sits through a cutout in the slide. The front sight is mounted directly to the barrel. Because the barrel doesn't move rearward the way the slide does, your front sight stays in your field of vision through the entire firing cycle.

The barrier is always the same: barrel fit. Normally, fitting a barrel requires precision-cutting the hood and the bottom lugs — tasks that demand specialized tooling and extreme technical skill. Most first-time builders don't have either.

The 9mm Island Barrel ships in three configurations. All porting is done at the barrel — not the slide.

• Standard (Included) — Non-ported. Maximum reliability. Best for defensive or carry setups.
• 3-Port (+$65) — Measurably flatter tracking and faster follow-up shots. The sweet spot for most competition shooters.
• 6-Port Ultra-Flat (+$100) — Maximum recoil mitigation built for high round-count competition. Requires spring and ammo tuning.

Because we want you to have the ergonomics that fit your hand, you choose your own finishing components. To complete this build you'll need to source:

1. A 2011 Grip Kit — Grip, Magwell, and Mainspring Housing. Your call on texture and profile.
2. A Trigger Assembly — Your choice of flat or curved. LPWS Kill Switch (F-Series) available on our site.
3. An Ignition Kit — Hammer, Sear, and Disconnector.
4. Thumb Safeties — Single or double; ambidextrous or not. Your preference.

No lathe, lug cutters, or milling machine required. The heavy machine work is done before the kit leaves our shop.
